Planning the Probe Tour with Safety in Mind

August 18, 2021|Young Harris, GA

When the popular Probe College Fair tour kicks off this fall, the health and safety of all involved will be a top concern- a fact in the forefront throughout the planning process.

This year, tour dates were adjusted by two weeks. The mid-September start, allowing school administrators and students access to the most up-to-date Covid data available.  Based on the current status of the pandemic, Probe will offer a touchless experience at all in-person events.

“This year students will need to pre-register on the Probe website where they will get their own unique QR code,” says Executive Director Clint Hobbs. “We hope this step will not only minimize surface contact concerns but also allow an easier way for representatives and students to connect.”

With 68 fairs planned throughout the state, Hobbs and other organizers know that flexibility will be crucial. Some sites may recommend or require masks while other events may make it optional. Social distancing and hand sanitizer will likely be utilized at all in-person fairs, and some locations may choose to adjust the capacity of attendees or stagger entrance times.

All decisions will be based on recommendations by health officials in each local community.

Organizers know heeding the advice of experts this fall will be the best way to continue in-person fairs. Their success is important for students, as well as college and university representatives as the Probe tour connects high-schoolers with a wide range of educational opportunities.

All colleges benefit from Probe events, and for some, these connections can account for as much as 20-percent of enrollment.

“We know when it comes to choosing a school one size doesn’t fit all,” says Hobbs. “We always encourage everyone to talk to representatives from as many different colleges and universities as possible in order to find their best fit.”
